As head of Shambaugh’s Electrical Group, Doug’s responsibilities include ensuring that all estimates are timely and accurate, systems are properly designed for maximum performance, projects are managed efficiently, systems and equipment are properly installed, and all personnel are fully trained, licensed, and certified. During the design and bidding process, he evaluates the feasibility, economics, and practicality of each design and then continues his involvement in design development by conducting ongoing quality control reviews. During these reviews, he combines his technical expertise and engineering knowledge to evaluate the total design and build process. The overall result is projects that give clients the high-performance systems they need to succeed and the value they expect from a leading electrical solutions provider.


Doug has over 27 years of electrical construction industry experience, ranging from commercial to industrial as well as healthcare construction and management experience. He began his career as an apprentice in 1991 and from this position, Doug moved onto various roles of increasing responsibility including General Foreman, Assistant Superintendent, Senior Project Manager, and Operations Manager. In his current position, as Senior Vice President of the Electrical Group, Doug is able to help customers obtain the electrical solutions they need for optimum power, energy efficiency and operating performance. Doug maintains his status as a Journeyman Inside Wireman with IBEW Local 305, and holds his Masters License. Over the course of his career he has developed an expertise and unique perspective in a number of areas, including field installation, project management, estimating, and financial management. Using the expertise gained from this diverse background, he has both worked on and managed Design-Build and Plan-Spec projects ranging from a few thousand dollars up through $12,000,000.

The Personal Side

Doug and his wife have three children and two grandchildren. In his free time, aside from spending time with his family, Doug enjoys woodworking, travel, and outdoor activities of all types.
