Mark A. Veerkamp, CPA
Chief Financial Officer
Mark helps Shambaugh & Son build on its strong financial foundation, ensuring the firm’s ability to continue offering the reliability, high-quality construction and facilities maintenance services clients need in today’s challenging environment. His responsibilities cover all financial operations, including financial reporting, management information systems, treasury functions, billing, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, credit and collections, and other related business services. In addition, he manages Shambaugh’s Advanced Systems Computer Consultants (ASCC) division.
Mark has over 30 years of management experience, more than 25 of those with Shambaugh & Son, L.P. Before joining Shambaugh, he held positions as a retail store manager and as vice president of a major engineering and consulting company.
In addition to an associate degree in applied sciences with a specialty in management from Purdue University, Mark holds a bachelor’s in business administration with a major in accounting and information systems from the University of Texas and another bachelor’s in business with a major in marketing from Indiana University.
He has also attended numerous financial- and construction-related seminars.
A Certified Public Accountant, Mark is a member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Indiana Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accounts. He is past President of Building Contractors Association of Northeast Indiana (BCA), Northern Indiana Chapter of Financial Executives International (FEI), and Construction Financial Management Association and the Midland, Texas, Jaycees.
He is a current Board Member of the BCA and a former board member of the Midland Chamber of Commerce, he has also held various offices with the Petroleum Accountants’ Society of the Permian Basin.
The Personal Side
Mark and his wife, Patricia, have three sons. In addition to his family, he enjoys boating, playing golf and spending time on his farm.
