Parkview Heart Institute

Shambaugh & Son provided complete single source construction of the Mechanical, Electrical, Fire Protection, and Temperature Controls for the state-of-the-art Parkview Heart Institute. This new 110,000 square foot addition included comprehensive cardiovascular services, intervention procedures, diagnostic testing, heart catheterization, cardiac rehabilitation, education, patient care, and cyber cafe facilities. Shambaugh provided $200,000 in value engineering and finished its $8 million contract on time and under budget. This project was our 50th consecutive year of working with Parkview Hospital.

 

  • Mechanical
    • Five (5) air handling units producing a total of 102,000 CFM
    • One (1) 108 ton multi-stack medical equipment chiller
    • Over 40,000 feet of piping installed, including PHVAC & medical gas
  • Electrical
    • Two (2) 1500 KVA unit subs and 1600 ampere secondary services and distribution
    • Six (6) automatic transfer switches and essential systems distribution
    • Fire alarm system, Nurse Call, Security
    • Four (4) catheterization labs, one (1) EBCT scan
    • Lighting and 120 volt branch wiring/Cable tray
  • Invensys Pneumatic Temperature Controls
    • Five (5) air handling unit systems
    • 157 variable air volume (VAV) boxes
    • Heating hot water and chilled water systems
    • Isolation room monitoring
    • Refrigerant exhaust system control
  • Fire Protection
    • Provided (3) wet stand pipe systems.
    • Provided a new light hazard sprinkler system equipped with 1,000 sprinkler heads to protect 110,000 sf building addition.
