Leadership in Energy & Environment Design (LEED®) Accreditation

James Witzenman, the Vice president and Division Manager of Havel Bros., has received accreditation from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) professional.

The LEED professional accreditation program is rigorous, requiring participants to satisfy a number of criteria covering a wide range of sustainable construction and development issues. Accreditation identifies individuals who have the necessary knowledge and skills to participate in the green design process, support and encourage integrated design, and streamline the LEED application and certification process for buildings. The certification process for buildings uses the LEED Green Building Rating System™, a consensus-based national green building standard for the construction industry.

Jim Witzenman’s accreditation is part of a company-wide EMCOR program whereby all key personnel, coast-to-coast will become accredited under the guidelines of USGBC’s LEED program. With 75% of the LEED certification points related to the type of work that EMCOR does everyday, the Company is working to further expand its role and expertise in the area of environmental stewardship, as well as its client service offerings in the area of high performance and sustainable design facilities.

"The LEED professional accreditation program recognizes expertise in sustainable design and construction and identifies individuals who can help meet the growing demand from the public and private sectors for green buildings," noted Mark Shambaugh, P.E., DBIA, President and CEO of Shambaugh & Son. "Jim’s capabilities, as demonstrated by his LEED accreditation, underscores the extent of the expertise Havel brings to the table when working for an organization whose agenda includes environmental stewardship, as well as the bottom line. Indeed, his expertise will benefit all Shambaugh clients who are looking to integrate sustainable design elements into their building programs.

Jim is responsible for the strategic planning, business development, sales, operation and profit/loss at Havel Bros. He has more than 35 years experience in the mechanical and control installation and service industry, with strong “hands on” sales, estimating, engineering and project management experience. He holds a B.S. degree in Construction Technology and an A.A.S. degree in Architectural Technology from Purdue University.
