Weathering the Economic Storm —The Sun Shines on Shambaugh & Son
The economic crisis has severely impacted everyone in the construction industry. How has Shambaugh survived? Certainly we have been proactive in our efforts to streamline, become as efficient as possible and remain connected to our repeat business clients. Eighty-five (85) years of success certainly helps! However, we have not just survived; we have persevered and actually grown our business during the recession. How did we do this? There are a few key fundamentals that have propelled us to actual further growth. These fundamentals are interwoven into the fabric of our “value added” services we provide to our clients including:
- Design-Build—Both Public and Private. The industry has turned toward this preferred delivery method and Shambaugh’s 85 years of experience honing are Design-Build best practices and commitment to leading the Design-Build industry has been recognized by our clients, who appreciate our unique “value added” approach. Our unified MEP “self performance” further elevates the nationally recognized cost and schedule advantages of Design-Build delivery.
- LEAN Construction—Shambaugh has been nationally recognized for reducing waste, while providing more efficient, just-in-time delivery.
- Quality Assurance and Control—Quality is one of our biggest differentiators with consistency and commitment of all 1,400 Shambaugh employees.
- Safety—Time and time again, we have been recognized as #1 in Indiana. While other contractors are cutting their safety expenses, Shambaugh increased our investment.
- Revolving Our Focus Around Our Customers—To truly deliver the “value added” approach, we must and do go beyond just delivering on time, on budget. This is an area where Shambaugh has few peers. Reducing energy and operational costs while actually improving the throughput and profitability of our customer’s plants/facilities and providing lifetime service and maintenance is another significant differentiator in our approach.
- Our Unique Diversity of Services–- By combining twelve (12) different MEP elements of Mechanical, Electrical, Fire Protection, Process and Refrigeration Controls, Temperature Controls, Refrigeration, Food Process, etc. is an offering not found elsewhere in our industry. It reduces coordination costs, general conditions costs, and provides a true single source accountability that is second to none.
I hope you will read herein of recent projects where clients across the country have validated our Commitment to Excellence and to be the industry’s best. Whether you are an existing or new client, we look forward to sharing with you what is new in our efforts to “measure up” to your expectations!
