Shambaugh Launches Historic Foreman Leadership Training Program
Shambaugh & Son conducted two 2-day sessions of Foreman training in March and April 2008. 120 foremen and future foremen from the Fire Protection, Electrical, Refrigeration, Mechanical, and Food Process groups assembled to participate. They came in from all Shambaugh branches and jobsites from around the country.
Shambaugh has a long history of investing time and money in training key field supervisors. Our national award-winning P.I.P.E. Programs (Program to Improve Productivity and Efficiency) were started back in 1982 with significant training programs in 1985 and 1992. It was time once again to bring our key people in from the field to “sharpen the saw”. In keeping with tradition, we titled the sessions “P.I.P.E. III”. The program consisted of three intense days of review, reinforcement, and feedback on the principle topics of leadership, management, customer expectations, communications, and job site efficiency. Sessions were held in Fort Wayne and were taught by FMI (Leadership Training) and by Kerry O’Brien (the MEP industry's leading consultant on productivity) covering the very important topic of Recoverable Lost Time (RLT) at the job site.
In addition to the 2-day seminars we were excited to present, Mark Breslin, author of Survival of the Fittest. Mark, a former pipefitter, has been very successful speaking around the country addressing a subject that affects both labor and management.
We look forward to seeing all S&S foremen personally benefit from this unique educational opportunity.
