ISO 9001:2000 Certification

Shambaugh is proud to announce its achievement of registration as an ISO 9001:2000 Certified Contractor! ISO 9001 is recognized with worldwide acceptance as the comprehensive international standard that defines quality. It provides independent semi-annual auditing to ensure compliance as well as measure continuous improvement initiatives. It is one thing to have the commitment to quality – it is quite another to have the comprehensive processes and innovative procedures that provide consistency of implementation across all projects, by all employees, with checks and balances to ensure project success.

ISO 9001 defines, validates, and measures compliance on approximately 20 work processes at Shambaugh & Son. Seven examples of work processes include engineering, estimating, project management, fabrication, field installation, customer satisfaction, and safety. To achieve ISO 9001 certification, Shambaugh redefined and documented "best practices" to be followed with all of our work processes in order to become more efficient and responsive in achieving our end goal – guaranteed customer satisfaction. Shambaugh & Son is the only contractor of our type in the midwest and one of the few nationally to achieve these worldwide ISO Certification standards.

Why has the construction industry not sought out ISO certification? Actually a few clients, e.g. power and automotive, require it for some projects. We believe some of the more regulated industries, e.g. food and pharmaceutical may require it in the future. Our decision to become ISO 9001 Certified was a proactive one that is years ahead of additional customer mandates, but one that demonstrates our industry leading quality commitment to all of our customers – now!
